Sunset Farm was acquired by Elizabeth Switzer in 1940 and she bred race horses through the 1960’s. Then in 1980, her nephew, Albert J. Ruh, began planting Christmas trees on the family farm. The name was changed to Sunset Christmas Tree Farm. The farm has a variety of trees, including Concolor Fir, Blue Spruce, Douglas Fir, Norway Fir and Frazier Fir. In 2007, Albert Ruh passed away and his son, Tim, began operating the tree farm. During 2008, Tim has planted over 5,000 trees and has begun work to restore the farm as it was prior to his father’s illness.
During your visit, the American Legion is available to shake and bail the trees and will tie them on your vehicles for tips. The Legion has a refreshment stand and all proceeds from the refreshments and tips goes to the local Legion.
Here are a few photos from the farm. Be sure to come on out and see the farm for yourself. We are located at 21 Frontage Rd, Blairstown NJ 07825
